	<title>Welcome to the 2010-2011 Debating Season!</title>
	<description>Dear debate lovers,
Welcome to another exciting year of debate!
We are in the process of updating our website, so please bear with us during this construction period.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp; You will be able to access our full calendar of events, new announcements, and up-to-date contact information very soon.
Registration for the 2010-2011 academic year is open.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp;Register your school now so&amp;amp;nbsp;that you can take advantage of all that OSDU has to offer.&amp;amp;nbsp; This fall, we'll be providing workshops for debaters and coaches of every experience level, selection processes for competitive national tournaments, and regional events around the province.&amp;amp;nbsp; Stay tuned!

	<title>Provincial Championship 2010</title>
	<description>On March 26-28 we held our annual Provincial Championship in Ottawa.&amp;amp;nbsp; Eighty-eight English debaters, 12 French debaters, and 12 bilingual debaters participated in an exciting weekend of debate, discussion, and activities in the capital.&amp;amp;nbsp; Thank you to the host, Margo Pinault, to Carleton Debate for hosting us on Saturday, and to everyone who helped make the weekend such a big success.
On Friday night we were honoured to have Dr. Carolyn Bennett, MP (St. Paul's) address us on the topic of the prepared resolution, women in parliament.&amp;amp;nbsp; She wrote about the event on her blog which you can read here: http://www.carolynbennett.ca/whatsNewPosting.cfm?ID=2736.
This year Ontario is sending eight teams to the National Championship in Victoria, BC (April 24-25).&amp;amp;nbsp; Congratulations and good luck to our representatives:

Janelle Tam and Vivienne Tam (Central Western Ontario Region)
Braden McDonald and Adil Abdulla (Ottawa)
Cole Bricker and Aly Lakha (Metro Toronto West)
Adam Litman and Robert Sniderman (Metro Toronto East)
Jack Reeves and Henry Choi (Halton)
Tae-Hu Kim and Anson Kwok (Metro Toronto North)
Elizabeth Stratton and Anisah Mahomed (Metro Toronto East)
The top speakers in the French and Bilingual categories who are NOT in Grade 12 will have the opportunity to represent Ontario in 2011 at the National Seminar in Hay River, North West Territories.

	<description>Yesterday a group of highschool debaters from across Canada defeated England in the grand finals of the World Schools Debate Championship in Qatar to become the WORLD DEBATE CHAMPIONS!&amp;amp;nbsp; This is a historic win and an incredible tribute to the debating programs grown here in Canada.
